Do you think people left Islam because of the religion itself or the community that made Islam so strict?

I used to have a friend, a Lebanese. He said Islam is so "strict" that he cannot adhere to it. He would rather not do a single duty of a Muslim than doing them 50-50.

He used to pray once awhile in a month. The family said he will go to hell.

His wife do not prefer to wear Hijab. She was criticized heavily by the family & relatives.

Then they decided to leave Islam, say Islam is too hard to follow, doing it half way is not acceptable, therefore they decided to leave Islam & tell the family & relatives that the religion is just not for them.

the problem isnt in islam nor in the community at all...i'll be honest with u...

lebanon is a non muslim country, yes there are many muslims but the community isnt about islam at all.

the problem is in the hearts...they had weak faith and they helped each others to be more weak instead of helping each other to be more patient and religious.

i am lebanese, and when i wanted to be sunni, no one showed me at all, how to pray and how to do wudu, at all, i had many das of sadness bcz i felt lonnely and i as an ex-shiaa we used to pray 3 times a day than after becoming sunni i pray 5 times a day, thats a little example, i had many problems and not bcz islam is hard but bcz i had no one to show me, to answer me little questions(like, how to pray, how to say salat ibrahimiya, how how how etc...)

but look at me now, alhamduli LLAH, i am comfortable...also my sis many times cried bcz no one showed her how to do things, but we were near each others, she cry and i tell her, that we have to be patient bcz Allah(SWT) knows that we wanna please him and we both cried but after all, we wiped our tears and knew that yes being alone in islam is hard but nothing is impossible, and we knew that later we will learn and learn and that after every sadness theres happiness(thats life)........and look at me now, i meet many muslims in life, and in sha'aa LLAH, today im going to learn quouran and im alhamduli LLAH find prayers and wudu easy on me, and my sister is also fasting for the days that she didnt fast when we didnt know about islam, when we was shiaa......and my mom even is praying a lot of nafils etc....

again the community isnt the problem..the big prooves is saudi arabia, i hear many ppl calling them extremist...but yet why dont muslims leave saudi? why dont muslims there leave islam? saudi is extemist..but we are seeing muslims there are more and more...so that mean that in the biggest extremist community, muslims are stil muslims and are stil believers and didnt leave islam.........and thats bcz they love and fear Allah(SWT) and know that life is a test and they will meet Allah(SWT) in the judgment day.

-as for religion: the problem isnt in islan itself, well if u look at it, u will find that everything that islam forbidd is for our safety and our good, like hijab, protect women from being raped and the big proove that in western country(usa, canada etc...) women are being raped more than muslims women here, who wear hijab.
also drinking, not just cause desease and death but also cause crimes etc...
as for prayers, thats only to talk to Allah(SWT) (in fatiha for example)...it make the slave of Allah(SWT) and the creator close and prayers protect from doing haram....theres also a door in heaven for salat, and prayers help us to not enter hell.

i think that ur friend didnt get to know islam well, bcz if they did they would see islam beautidul and they would be patient until sadness goes and happiness comes...also islam isnt a choice so they take it or leave it..its like buying our way to hell or heaven..thats sad...i advice u to keep talking to them and tell them about the beauty of paradise and how prayers will help them in entering paradise and that wudu protect from hell and they will have a light etc...tell them about quouran who will be a beautiful person near them in the grave and he will never leave them until they enter heavens...islam is beautiful..we should just open our heart to it and be patient and have faith in Allah(SWT) bcz Allah(SWT) have mercy on us more than the mother on her child and more than ourselves.
