What mountain bike fork should i get?
I have an 09 trek 6000 and am making an upgrade. The dart 3 fork was adequate for its first season but now it's time to upgrade. I am wondering if i should buy the 2009 rockshox reba race, or 2009 rockshox sid race. I am 6 foot 1" and weigh 170 pounds.
I do race, this past summer was my first season. I live in the pittsburgh area, i'd say for the most part it's cross country riding.
The sid is one of the best rated forks in xc and like some of the previous answers it's very sturdy and can be controlled easily, and if your mostly doing xc i highly recommend it however depending on what other riding your doing e.g general commuting, freeride, jump, dh etc. it might be an idea to look at the Fox Racing Shock 36 Van R, depending on your price range aswell.
To be honest if your looking at the sid and wanting to spend over £600 for a pair of forks this is going to be a serious upgrade to your current dart's.
But if your looking at not paying as much for the sid then reba are also a serious upgrade from your current dart's as they are still about £350 and perform pretty much flawlessly and are excellent for xc but with lower travel (85-100 compared to the sid's 100-120) it may restrict you in what type of riding you are doing, also these are good to control especially by rockshox's pop-lock system.
If you are on a budget i would go for the reba's as they still will be a quality upgrade from your dart's
otherwise if money is not an object or you are looking at a higher travel option then the reba are the ones to go for.
