Using white spirit to clean bicycle rims?
My rear brakes were screeching so I decided to clean the rims with white spirit. I cleaned the brakes as well by dipping a nail file in white spirit and rubbing them to get grime off (they're not disk brakes). Is this ok or should I clean the brakes again? Does white spirit damage brakes? Thanks!
Your brakes were screeching because they most likely weren't 'toed in' properly.

Regular grime cleaner and a rag are fine.
