I want to be an Archer and I just downloaded the 10 day free trial. All my friends are members of the Horde and I was wondering what creature would be best for becoming an Archer- type person.

And If I want to use range, should I be a Rogue or a Hunter?
Rogue falls under the melee faction, rather than range. A rouge only uses his throw weapon in moments of deadly throw to slow the target down, and a warrior only uses their throw weapon to pull a mob at least until Lv.80 when they obtain Heroic Throw to cause high threat.
There is only one range class that fits the bill for a Archer-type person and you named it. The hunter, and since your friends are all horde your limited to selected races.
Orc -
Stun Resist (Good for PvP against Pallies and Rogues however hunters will always be better than rogues even without it)
Bloodlust - Increases Attack Power (useful always)
Pet dmg increased - Great if your a BM hunter which is what you will be doing for leveling. But it is added damage per second.
Troll-
Voodoo Shuffle - Reduce Movement Speed Imparing Effects which will stack with the talents you can obtain from survivial to shorten them further. Which is again useful only for PvP.
Bowmanship - Increases your crit with Bows by 5% very nice
Berserk - At full health you can get a 10% speed increase which is nice for a short time.
Tauren -
More Health but not too important for a hunter
Thunderstomp useful but you already as a hunter have plently of abilitys to get of situations.
Blood Elf
Manatap can get you mana back when you need it, but that is it.
So troll and orc make some of the best hunters, but if you just want to be pretty go Blood Elf. Even if you won't be the best you will still be good.
